Review|Nyx Pro Lip Cream Palette in The Plums

Nyx Pro Lip Cream Palette in The Plums blog review with photos and swatches.

Autumn is here and it’s time to switch up your makeup a bit. One way to do this is to choose deeper lipstick shades.

Nyx is my brand of choice for lipstick. They do so many different formulas and the colour is always really intense. I was having trouble choosing a lipstick so I grabbed this little palette as it covers many colour bases. There were also Pinks, Reds and Nudes Pro Lip Cream Palettes to choose from. Here is what Nyx has to say-

Pucker up—your lips are in for a treat! Our new Pro Lip Cream Palettes feature six expertly coordinated color combinations of intensely pigmented lip creams. Wear each shade alone or blend ’em all together for a totally customized look!

RRP- £10

The palette comprises of 6 decent sized lip shades in neat plastic packaging. The packaging works well but there’s no more or brush. I would have liked a mirror and brush for convenience, but hey ho, it was only £10.

The colour is really strong. I have found lip sticks in palettes in general to be a bit useless, they don’t ever seem to have as much pigment as proper bullets. Not the Pro Lip Creams, the colour is vivid. I only needs a small amount on my finger tip to make the swatch. After I removed the swatches with a wipe, they left a stain in my arm. A sure sign of strong pigment.

The finish is satin, but not your slippery, gone in 60 seconds kind of satin. It lasted a good 4 hours of normal lip activity.

From the top left we have a dark plum, a brown red, a blue toned red, dark blue toned pink, lighter blue toned clover pink, and a vampy brick red shades. It’s a lovely selection of autumn appropriate lipsticks. I think my favourite is bottom right, it’s almost blood red. I found the dark plum a bit patchy. I struggled to get it looking uniform, this would be my only criticism of the actual lipstick. Nyx suggests using the Pro Lip palette for mixing and matching and I think you could come up with some great ombré looks with it.

I applied the lip creams in the photos above with a lip brush and no liner. I don’t know about you, but I always seem to make a mess with lip brushes alone and I think these lip creams would be best served with lip liner. The other application method is fingertips, this is usually how I apply lipstick. It’s quicker and gives a nice undone, stained appearance.
