Urban Decay have just released their brand new Naked eyeshadow palette Heat. I have a review and all the swatches 

Urban Decay do the best eyeshadow palettes. I use Naked 2 on the regular, it’s the ultimate day to night palette. My recommendation for anyone who is new to makeup and wants to invest in a good palette has got to be to head to Urban Decay. They’re eyeshadow is great quality- easy to blend and long lasting. I recently received the Urban Decay Vice Reloaded palette as a gift, it has the most beautiful array of brights, glitters and metallic shades. So I have brights and neutrals but I am missing any warm shades so the Urban Decay Naked Heat will really complete my UD collection. 

Warm shades are really fashionable at this point. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance is ubiquitous and has started a real trend for terracotta and wine coloured eye looks. Just check Instagram, it’s awash with Modern Renaissance. Naked Heat seems like Urban Decays answer to this trend.

Every shade in the Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette features UD’s Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives each shade its velvety texture, rich colour, serious staying power and blendability

There are 12 1.3g oblong pans, a double ended blending brush and a good sized mirror in the palette and it will set you back £39.50. One of my favourite things about Naked palettes are the brushes. You get a very useful double ended brush, so you can just pick up your palette and get to work without having to root about finding the right brush.

The packaging is in similar dimensions to the other Naked palettes- a slim rectangle. It has magnetic closing which I’m not sure I’d be happy to just sling loose in a bag but it seems strong enough for normal day to day stuff. The lid has a double layer with embossed writing on the top, it looks lovely. The lid contains a handy mirror. 

The brush it comes with is soft and firm with the slim end for application and blending into the crease and a fatter end for blending. The brush is great and happily substitutes some of my other brushes. 

The eyeshadows themselves are like this-

The swatches on the right are on top of eye primer (Collection Illuminating Eye Primer specifically) . The primer certainly intensified the colours and made for a neater swatch. 

• Ounce is a warm champagne matte
• Chaser is a light warm nude
• Sauced is a matte terracotta 
• Low Blow is a warm brown matte
• Lumbre is a metallic copper
• He Devil is a matte rust
• Dirty Talk is a metallic burnt red
• Scorched is metallic red brown with copper shimmer
• Cayenne is dark warm brown 
• En Fuego is a very dark matte burgundy 
• Ashes is almost purple/dark grey
• Ember is deep metallic warm black and copper 

The Good– Urban Decay Naked Heat has plenty of warm brown and burgundy shades here to make interesting smokey eye looks. My favourite shades I think are He Devil, Ashes, which doesn’t look like much to swatch but looks really interesting blended with the others. Scorched has a lovely bright metallic finish. Ember will make a beautiful dark smoked out eye if used intensely. 

The Bad- There is quite a bit of dustiness from Naked Heat. Particularly from En Fuego, I think you can tell by the swatch. You definitely need to do your eyes first when doing a Naked Heat eye, so that you can clear up the dustiness after with a wipe before doing your base. 

There is a lot of orange shades in the palette. Dirty Talk, Lumbre, He Devil and Cayenne all come up a bit orange on the eye. Naked Heat is also lacking a light shimmer for highlighting. I have other products that work, for sure, but it would be nice to have one included. 

I did an eye look exploring some of the UD Naked Heat shades, here are the snaps (bear in mind that I have horrendous hooded eyes and I’m not a great model)-

I used Chaser as a base then He Devil for a lid and crease shade, Dirty Talk on the lid and Ashes for the crease. Like I say, the palette is missing a light shimmer which would have been nice for the inner eye. 

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Summary

Naked Heat is at the standard you would expect from Urban Decay. The packaging is gorgeous and the brush is dead  handy. Some of these shades will look cracking on blue or green eyes. If you have really dark skin, the colours might not stand out so much. Naked Heat is a great way to add some warmth to your eyeshadow collection, the colours are gorgeous, but I don’t think it’s a must have in the same way that the original Naked palettes are. All in all, I like it and I’m definitely going to playing around with warm shades a lot in the next few weeks.
