A review of the range of MAC x9 palettes

This post is sort of a review, but sort of not. The product I’m describing is no longer available. So there’s little point in telling you to go and buy it. But MAC is still doing very similar palettes in different tones.  

 
The MAC times 9 palettes come in Navy, Purple, Amber and Burgundy. As well as the Macnificent me palette that I bought.

I have been so in love with my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette I have been using little else for months. Why would I need to? It’s got it all. But perhaps I’m getting a bit bored (sacrilege!!). I started looking elsewhere, playing the field a bit. And I discovered Depop. Check it out if you haven’t already. It’s like a cross between Facebook and EBay. It’s where beauty bloggers go to sell products they swatched once. That’s where I got this discontinued Macnificent Me palette.

The palettes consist of nine small pans of shadow in different colour schemes. The packaging is so so, black plastic with a clear lid (no mirror 😐). The pans of shadow are on the small side, I was a smidge disappointed. But on reflection I don’t think it’s a big problem. The colours are intense, you don’t need much. 

Macnificent me is on a neutral warm brown theme. There are 4 matte shades and the rest contain some lustre/sparkle. It’s a lot of fun playing with the shades. It’s easy to get carried away trying out the shades in different combinations. I could play all day in fact! All the shades are useable, there’s a good balance of shimmer and matte, light and dark.

These little x9 palettes are so jolly I want to own all five of them. I would suggest spending the £30 on the colour that appeals to you most if you’ve had a bad week, it’ll cheer you up no end.

Overview  

Mac times nine palettes give a good selection of different shades, finishes and textures along one colour scheme. The pans are small though and the packaging is so so. But the shadow is good quality and the colours are all wearable so my score is 7/10
