Gaylia Kristensen Heaven Hydrating Mist Review
Review of Gaylia Kristensen Skincare Heaven hydrating face mist, new to the U.K.
Facial mists are a fairly new addition to my routine. You don’t often see them in U.K. drugstores and supermarkets. A face mist is a hydrating layer meant to be use straight after toning or cleansing. There are a few mists on the market that just comprise of mineral water (like Avène Thermal). It’s preferable to have some nourishing hydrating ingredients in there.
I use a mist after every time I cleanse, it hydrates the skin ready to absorb the rest of your skincare. In the same way a dry sponge is not as good at absorbing as a damp one. It makes sense to have predampened skin at the beginning of the routine. Particularly if you’re using Hyaluronic Acid containing products. Gaylia Kristensen Heaven Hydrating Facial Mist Review
The packaging is a metal spray bottle in a sturdy card box. It feels like good quality as you’d expect for the price. The spritz is nice, light and even. If you’re a regular user of face mists you’ll probably have experienced one that shoots like a water pistol
It has a light scent of coconut and roses, possibly? I’m not keen on fragrance in skincare, I have to say, I know some people like it. I fear that the perfume might irritate sensitive skin types. I’ve been fine while using it but nevertheless I wish it wasn’t there.
It’s hard to properly assess the merits of a particular facial mist so I’ll go through the ingredients to see what makes this one special.
Ingredients include-
- Aqua– aka water, for hydration.
- Glycerin– a humectant and emollient which attracts water to the skin and keeps it supple.
- Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil– This might sound a bit chemically, but it’s got a good track record as an emoillient. It has large particles which means it sits on the skin without being absorbed, trapping water and keeping skin moist.
- Chamomile flower extract– A well known skin soother. It helps to soothe and moisturise the skin and has some antioxidant effect.
- Calendula flower extract– Has natural antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. It soothes and protects skin as well as being an antioxidant.
- Trehalose– A sugar found in plants, useful for its water trapping and antioxidant properties.
- Hydrolysed Vegetable Protein– A protein derived from plants that helps to bind water, has a safe track record.
- Phenoxyethanol– A commonly used preservative, an alternative to parabens.
- Diazolidinyl Urea- A preservative.
- Potassium Sorbate– A preservative.
- Parfum– As I said, something I’m not keen on, but at least it’s at the bottom of the list.
There are some lovely hydrating ingredients in there but there’s a couple of things that might flare up sensitive skin. Here’s the ingredient analysis .
Gaylia Kristensen Heaven Facial Mist Final Thoughts
There’s nothing like a face mist for giving baby soft plumped skin. I would always rather choose one that contains hydrating ingredients, like Gaylia Kristensen Heaven Mist. The glycerin, trehalose, chamomile and calendula helps to moisturise, soothe and hydrate the skin. Those with sensitive skin may have trouble with the fragrance.
I’ve had no problems with Heaven mist and found it fab for immediate hydration after cleansing and between skincare layers. You can also use it after applying makeup to fix and soften powderiness (is that a word??). It leaves my skin really plump and soothed.
