Review of Nakin Skincare Natural Anti-Ageing Lip Treatment Balm and Anti-Ageing Eye Cream Complex Nakin Skincare Review

Nakin is a British skincare company that bases its products on natural anti-aging ingredients. It has a luxury feel to it, with plain graphics and glass packaging. I know this sort of brand will appeal to those looking for plant based skincare that looks and feels expensive.

Here are the facts-

  • The company is based in Britain and the products are manufactured here

  • Cruelty free– Leaping Bunny approved

  • Some products are vegan

  • The range doesn’t contain parabens, mineral oil, artificial colours or fragrance

  • Prices go from £10

  • Available from Nakin.com

I have the Nakin Natural Anti Aging Eye Cream Complex and the Lip Treatment Balm to try. Skincare wise, at the moment I am getting my skin used to 0.5% tretinoin. If you’ve ever gone down that road, you’ll know that you need all you can get in terms of moisture and balms. So these Nakin products are a welcome addition to my routine right now.

The cream comes in a screw top jar within a card box. We all know by now that jars aren’t 100% ideal for skincare storage. Compared with airless pumps, they allow contamination and products stored in jars won’t last as long as those kept from the outside environment. Glass jars are nicer to look at though than plastic pumps, and are recyclable. The Nakin packaging is really very attractive.

The cream is silky and rich, while not being greasy at all. It absorbs pretty quickly and doesn’t sit on the skin or feel heavy. As long as you only use a tiny amount, you only need a rice grain’s worth, it soaks in in a matter of seconds.

I’m not a big fan of eye creams that feel oily or don’t absorb. Also, I’m sure some richer creams have caused milia (those little white bumps caused by blocked hair ducts). I didn’t get any problems with milia after using the Nakin eye cream.

The ingredients lists goes like this-

Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Cetearyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Myristate, Hydrogenated Ethylhexyl Olivate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Benzyl Alcohol, Squalane, Hydrogenated Olive Oil Unsaponifiables, Hydrolyzed Hibiscus Esculentus Extract, Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Caffeine, Dextrin, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Dehydroacetic Acid, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Laminaria Japonica (Seaweed) Extract, Chlorella Vulgaris (Algae) Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract

The top ingredients are all naturally derived moisturisers. Glycerin is a great humectant (brings water to the skin) and Squalane traps in the moisture. Hibiscus extract helps firm the skin (nature’s Botox?!). Plant oils like Baobab and Argan moisturise the skin provide essential fatty acids. Seaweed and algae contains vitamins and improve skin quality.

Active ingredients are caffeine for reducing puffiness, Aloe Vera and rosemary soothe inflammation.

Nakin Natural Anti Aging Eye Complex is a medium bodied, non greasy eye cream. It’s best suited for drier skin types and contains antioxidants that will help prevent sun related aging.

Also contained in a jar. Jar packaging is less of a problem for something like a balm because lip balm is waterless it is much less likely to degrade when exposed to air. So the packaging gets a thumbs up.

Ingredients include-

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glyceryl Rosinate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Hydrogenated Ethylhexyl Olivate, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil Unsaponifiables, Copernicia Cerifera Cera (Carnauba Wax), Cera Alba (Beeswax), Hydrogenated Olive Oil Unsaponifiables, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Mentha Arvensis (Mint) Oil, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Limonene

Most lip balms (eg Chapstick) are petroleum based and work by trapping water in the skin. Nakin Lip Treatment contains a selection of moisturising oils and marigold flower extract to replace skin oils and waxes to give the balm body and to keep the moisture in place. The mint extract stimulates blood supply.

The important characteristics of a lip balm are its spreadability, stickiness, flavour and moisture giving abilities. Nakin Natural Lip Treatment Balm Scores highly for all of these. It has a slight meltiness at room temperature and applies really well. The scent/flavour is mint, which works really well. I find it absorbs to a certain extent and definitely improves the softness and makes my lips feel more comfortable.

The Nakin balm has done a good job of keeping my lips supple. My lips aren’t drastically dry at moment because it is summer, but because of the tretinoin they have needed a bit of something before going out and this works perfectly. I’ve been wearing a lip stain with the Nakin balm on top to give my lips a slight gloss without the stickiness.

I’m going to recommend the Nakin products I’ve tried. The Eye Complex gives just the right amount of moisture to improve elasticity without being greasy and the balm is wearable and glossy.

Nakin Skincare is available from their site, Nakin.com

I received the Nakin Natural Anti Aging Eye Cream Complex and Lip Treatment Balm for review, which doesn’t affect my opinion. I received no money for the review but the links are affiliate so if you click and spend, I receive a small amount of money that will help support my blog.
