My review of Olay Regenerist 3 point super firming serum.

I recently wrote a post about some anti aging ingredients, called Matrixyl and Matrixyl 3000 (aka peptides or pentapeptides) which actually have some decent scientific research behind them. Read this post Here. Seeing how the beauty industry can be a bit shady about its products’ composition, after much research, I eventually plumped (see what I did there!) for Olay Regenerist. It’s a well known brand and not vastly expensive, the serum has an RRP of £29.99, but it was a third off in Boots at the time. Bonus!

Olay has this to say about it-

Regenerist 3-Point Super Serum has a fast absorbing, non-greasy formula with highly concentrated amino-peptide complex that is specially designed to help give you dramatically firmer-feeling skin on the face, neck and décolletage—the areas most prone to sagging.

The Results: Hydrates to instantly plump the skin for a lifted appearance. Dramatically firmer-feeling skin on the face, neck and décolletage. Helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles for younger-looking skin. “
Ingredients of note include-

  • Nicotinamide- this is relative of vitamin B3, it has anti inflammatory effects.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate- natures own super moisturiser.
  • Camellia Sinesis extract- this is green tea, an antioxidant.
  • Allantoin- this chemical is found in the urine of most mammals, mmm, nice! allantoin has anti-inflammatory properties. It also acts as an emollient, helping to soften skin and smooth dry, irritated skin.
  • Palmitoyl Pentapeptide 4- Matrixyl! Our proven Antiaging collagen booster

Now if all that doesn’t sound promising then I don’t know what does.

On to the actual product, I chose the serum because of my oiliness- I thought you the creams might be too heavy. Olay does a bewildering array of products, I was surveying the shelves for quite some time. Regenerist is what you want for the Matrixyl. The Regenerist range includes a face wash, a serum, an eye serum, 3 point treatment cream (go for the fragrance free option), and a replenishing cream. The replenishing cream is £10 cheaper than the 3 point cream and it still contains the active ingredients including Matrixyl, go figure!
The packaging is a perfectly nice red pump bottle. The serum has a nice subtle luminous quality to it.

Olay Regenerist is not as light as some serums I’ve used. I use it instead of moisturiser and it works for me, I don’t have dry skin. I like the subtle shimmer. My skin is soft after use and it absorbs well. But, by Lord! there’s a scent to it, it smells exactly like I’ve rubbed Pantene into my face.

Does it work? I’d love to say “Yes, I now have the face of a teenager”, but nothing is going to work that way. Not even Botox. The only way to know for sure is to get identical twins who have the same lifestyle to use it for years, then examine their skin. That’s a tall order. I can tell you that my face feels soft and nice (and it smells like clean hair). Is there a subtle improvement, possibly, but not so much that my husband noticed.

Olay Regenerist Serum has a good list of ingredients that have a good track record. If you want to try an anti aging product this is a good bet.
