Perricone MD No Makeup Makeup Review- 3 vials in my hand

I was very excited when I was approached to try out No Makeup Makeup from Perricone MD. I was already familiar with the name Perricone. He a very famous dermatologist who is in relentless pursuit of effective anti aging ingredients. So I wanted to check out the goods. I also have a review of the Perricone High Potency Intensive Trio Skincare set.

The look is high end and there is a focus on interesting anti aging ingredients like DMAE, Vitamin C Ester and Acyl Glutathione. In this post I’ll have a good look at the ingredient lists and find out what these makeup/skincare products can do for your skin.

Here are some facts about the Perricone No Makeup Makeup range-

  • Skincare-infused makeup that blends seamlessly into the skin, leaving you with a glowing, luminous complexion and a flush of natural colour.
  • Has 8 products, prices range from £28-£48
  • The range includes a No Makeup Foundation, Bronzer, Blusher, Highlighter, Eyeshadow, Mascara, Lipstick, Primer, Makeup Remover and brushes
  • Each makeup product has a raft of anti-aging peptides and skin beneficial ingredients
  • Available from Ulta, Selfridges, Fenwick, John Lewis and Perriconemd.co.uk

I was sent the Highlighter, Bronzer and Blusher to try (very grateful). I have actually tried the No Makeup Highlighter before, so I knew I was already a fan. (FYI, the links in this post are affiliate, which means that if you click the link and spend, then you will be supporting my blog. The products are gifted which does not affect my opinion).

Ingredient list– Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Water/Aqua/Eau, Mica (CI 77019), Butylene Glycol, Isododecane, Methyl Trimethicone, PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Silica, Acrylates/Dimethicone Copolymer, Quaternium-90 Bentonite, Dimethicone/ PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Sodium Chloride, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Lecithin, Alpinia Officinarum Leaf Extract, Xylitol, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium EDTA, Dimethicone/ Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Propylene Carbonate, Maltodextrin, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Hexylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Sodium Citrate, Caprylic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)

In terms of skin beneficial ingredients, we have-

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate which is a Vitamin C derivative, it may help with hyperpigmentation. It’s definitely an antioxidant, and the more antioxidants we can get on our skin the better. Antioxidants help prevent aging caused by free radicals.

Alpinia Officinarum Leaf Extract is also known as Galangal may have anti oxidant properties

Lecithin is a fantastic skin conditioner. It moisturises the skin, helps other ingredients absorb better and gives the product a lovely feel.

Vitamin E is another antioxidant. Similar to the Vitamin C derivative Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate Vitamin E can help reduce sun damage and damaging free radicals in the skin. It also amplifies the effects of Vitamin C, they make a great combination.

Xylitol is great for the skin. It reduces water loss and helps support the skin’s protective moisture barrier.

Maltodextrin helps to draw moisture into the skin and increases hydration.

So now we know it has some nice stuff, what is No Makeup Makeup Highlighter actually like? I’m going to say straight away, it’s lovely! I like the packaging, it looks expensive and feels good in the hand. It has a velvety doe foot applicator. I place a few dots across my upper cheekbones, under my brows, tip of the nose; basically any high spots you want to emphasise To blend I just pat in with my fingers. I like to use the No Makeup Makeup range when I’m not doing a full face of makeup just to gently emphasise my features, without looking too done.

It has a champagne toned pearlescence that works really well to give a natural highlight. Some liquid highlighters I’ve tried look more metallic (check out this highlighter I reviewed a while ago) which is maybe not as flattering.

No Makeup Makeup Highlighter has a serum like texture and gives a subtle glow. It melts into the skin and highlights in a really subtle way. I really like it.

No Makeup Makeup Bronzer Spf 15 Review

Ingredients list– Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Water/Aqua/Eau, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Isododecane, Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Silica, Sodium Chloride, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Lecithin, Alpinia Officinarum Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Xylitol, Tocopherol, Disodium EDTA, Quaternium-90 Bentonite, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Ethyl Ferulate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Maltodextrin, Propylene Carbonate, Hexylene Glycol, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Caprylic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Mica (CI 77019). May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)

The skincare ingredients in the bronzer are similar to the highlighter- Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Lecithin, Galangal, Vitamin E, Xylitol, Maltodextrin.

It also has Ethyl Ferulate is an ester of Ferulic Acid. You may have heard of Ferulic Acid as an antioxidant which goes well with Vitamin C, there is evidence that Ethyl Ferulate has even more potency than Ferulic acid, check out this study by Nazaré et al, 2014.

No Makeup Makeup Bronzer comes in a dropper bottle. It has more of a liquid oily texture than the highlighter. To be honest I find the bronzer a bit trickier to apply. Perricone MD has this handy tutorial on their site. Basically you give the bottle a good shake, dab a spot of bronzer to the temples, the hollows of the cheeks and the eyelids then blend with fingertips. I think you could also add a drop to your moisturiser to add some colour generally or blend into the skin with a little foundation on a brush or sponge.

It has a warm orange bronze tone. It has a moisturising feel and that is what I like about the No Makeup products, they feel like skincare and give the skin a boost of hydration. This is great if you have some dryness and/or lines which I certainly do at age 42, particularly around my eyes. It has Spf 15, which is nice but you will definitely need more protection than that. You should use high factor broad spectrum spf under your makeup everyday.

Ingredients list– Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Zinc Oxide, Water/Aqua/Eau, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Silica, PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Isododecane, Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Sodium Chloride, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Lecithin, Alpinia Officinarum Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Xylitol, Tocopherol, Disodium EDTA, Quaternium-90 Bentonite, Ethyl Ferulate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-3 Disostearate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Maltodextrin, Propylene Carbonate, Hexylene Glycol, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Caprylic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate. May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Red 7 Lake (Cl 15850).

The No Makeup Blusher from Perricone has the same skincare ingredients as I mentioned above in the Bronzer- Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Lecithin, Galangal, Vitamin E, Xylitol, Maltodextrin and Ethyl Ferulate.

It has the same moisturising texture as the highlighter, and maybe a bit of a gel consistency than the bronzer. The Perricone MD site describes it as a gel cream, which I would agree with. The Blush has a peach tone. I think there was a previous version which was more pink, this version is more orange toned. Orange tones can be really flattering, especially if your skin has warm tones. It works well with the colour of the bronzer.

The No Makeup Blush has a doe foot applicator. I use just a dot on the apples of my cheeks and blend by dabbing with my fingertips. It melts into the skin really well. I’d love it if there were more shades, it’s a really nice blush which gives a natural glow look. A cooler rose tone would be great too.

No Makeup Makeup- Is It Any Good?

I would recommend the No Makeup Makeup products I’ve tried. They are a bit of a splurge, but it’s so nice to treat yourself to something a little luxe as a treat. I like that they feel very moisturising and soak into the skin so nicely. My favourite is the Highlighter, it’s really beautiful. They give a beautiful, easy going and very natural look, while nourishing the skin. You can just dab on the No Makeup Makeup Bronzer, Blush and Highlighter, add a bit of mascara and brow powder if you need to look bright and pretty but don’t want to look like you’re wearing any makeup at all.

  1. Great post! Thanks for the review! I am especially intrigued by the blusher since it has the orange tone. Never really used highlighter or bronzer, so thanks for explaining how to use them! I would be curious to know if you have tried the foundation. Is it good? And does it work well with combination / oily skin? thank you Nia!
