Perricone MD Triple Retinol Renewal Review
My Review of Perricone MD‘s new Triple Retinol Renewal skincare innovations

It’s time to talk about luxury skincare! I normally keep my routine very affordable, which is all fine and good, but I thought it would be an interesting experience to try something that costs more than £12.99. There is something fabulous about the expensive packaging and luxe textures that comes with high-end cosmetics. I have tried Perricone MD’s skincare before and really enjoyed my experience with the No Make Up Make Up and I was hoping this would go similarly. I have three products from the Perricone High Potency line- Perricone MD Triple Retinol Renewal Serum, Retinol Recovery Overnight Moisturiser and the Triple Retinol Renewal Eye Serum.
(This skincare was sent to me to try from the brand, I was not paid for this post and the opinions here are my own, obvs)

The Perricone MD packaging is, as expected, very attractive and practical. The serum feels really nice, it has a light silicone feel and absorbs well to leave the skin feeling lightly moisturised and very bouncy! I use it after a hydrating mist for best absorption and sandwich with a rich moisturiser to trap in the hydration. You could even use a jade roller or Gua Sha to massage in if you have the time. High Potency Retinol Renewal Serum has no added fragrance ingredients, which is great for me, and has a light grape seed scent. It’s really lovely. Perricone advises that you can use the serum morning and night, under SPF in the morning. If you are brand new to Retinol, you might want to introduce slowly over a couple of weeks.
The ingredients include some lovely skin conditioning ingredients as well as the Retinol superstar. There are-
- Active Ingredients– Retinol, Retinol Linoleate, Carrot extract (plant derived vitamin A), Niacinamide- Retinol is a staple ingredient of anti aging, proven to increase skin collagen and reduce lines and texture. Niacinamide is a must have! it is B vitamin which has so many great skin effects- it brightens, reduces yellowness, reduces inflammation, reduces acne, helps with dryness, I could go on and on.
- Oils– Raspberry seed, Linseed, Squalane and Soybean, to moisturise the skin and prevent dryness.
- Soothing ingredients such as Allantoin, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Bisabolol and Lactobacillus Ferment, to counteract any irritation from the Retinol
- Replenishing ingredients– Ceramide NP, Lactic Acid, Beta-Sitosterol, Hydrogenated Phosphatidylcholine- These molecules are a natural part of the skin’s defence system so a welcome part of an active serum
- Hydrating ingredients– Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate- these ingredients draw water to the skin and account for that bounciness.
- Antioxidants– Ubiquinone (aka Coenzyme Q10), Ascorbyl Palmitate (a vitamin C derivative), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Thioctic Acid (aka Alpha Lipoid Acid)- These prevent DNA damage which is what causes visible aging.
- Peptides– Arginine/Lysine Polypeptide supports elastin and collagen to help with skin firmness
Such a lovely selection of supportive ingredients to work alongside the Retinol complex. In Perricone MD’s High Potency Retinol Renewal Serum we have three formulations of Retinol- Retinol itself, A Retinol ester and a phytoretinol- Beta Carotene. These ingredients are encapsulated which basically means that they are wrapped in little protective bubbles which break apart to release the active ingredient when applied to the skin. This is great because these little pods of retinol keep the molecule fresh. Retinol is very prone to damage from the environment so encapsulation will make sure that the product is as effective as possible. This is something that you are more likely to find in a high end skincare product, you are not only paying for lovely packaging but, more importantly, for the best skincare delivery system.
With an ingredient like Retinol you have to but the time in, and I have only been using for a couple of weeks so I can’t give you a long term before and after. I can report that Perricone Triple Retinol Renewal Serum is gorgeous to use and causes no irritation, it’s a good base for make up and there is no pilling when layering skincare.
Perricone MD Triple Retinol Renewal Eye Serum Review
£64 for 15ml from Perricone MD
The eye serum has similar packaging to the Triple Retinol seem, just in a smaller pump bottle. It has a similar texture, but has no silicone which is good for the eye area. It also has extra ingredients for addressing eye specific issues (see below I’ll get into it). It also is unfragranced (yey!) which is great for the sensitive eye area. It leaves the eye skin feeling hydrated and bouncy.

Ingredients- Water/Aqua/Eau, Propanediol, Dicaprylyl Ether, Glycerin, Squalane, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, PVM/MA Decadiene Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Polysorbate 20, Hydroxyacetophenone, Pentylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Phosphatidylcholine, Sodium Hydroxide, Caffeine, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Ceramide Np, Allantoin, Bisabolol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tocopherol, Diglucosyl Gallic Acid, Hydroxyphenyl Propamidobenzoic Acid, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Retinyl Linoleate, Retinol, Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrogenated Phosphatidylcholine, Lysolecithin, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Thioctic Acid, Cetyl Palmitate, Laureth-23, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Ubiquinone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Trideceth-6 Phosphate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrapeptide-1, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Beta-Carotene, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Phytic Acid, Beta-Sitosterol, Squalene, Arginine/Lysine Polypeptide
The Triple Retinol Renewal Eye has a lot on similar ingredients to the Face serum, with a few important exceptions. It also has the oils, hydrating ingredients, peptides, soothing ingredients and antioxidants and same actives, but also has targeted eye goodies added in-
Important under eye specific ingredients-
Active ingredients for the under eye–
- Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract– For deputing the under eye, hydration and for it’s antioxidant properties.
- Caffeine– A mainstay for busting under eye puff. It is easily absorbed into the skin and acts as an antioxidant as well as reducing inflammation and, hopefully, eye bags.
- Diglucosyl Gallic Acid– An antioxidant which can also reduce redness and inflammation
- Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract– A natural extract which helps with inflammation, good for soothing irritation. It can also help with discolouration.
This is a fantastic raft of actives! Not only do you get all the goodness contained in the face serum, but Perricone Triple Retinol Renewal Eye also contains lovely ingredients specifically for addressing eye issues.
I’ve been on the hunt for a new eye serum after my favourite one by Hylamide was discontinued. I can’t use anything too rich around my eyes because heavy creams seem to lead to blocked hair follicles and millia (those pesky little white bumps). The Perricone one seems to work really nicely for me, it’s nice and light and I haven’t experienced any irritation from it. Plus there are so many beneficial ingredients.

Perricone Retinol Recovery Overnight Moisturiser comes in a has some gorgeous enriching components as well as the same triple retinol complex as the other two products. It comes in a fetching brown glass jar. It has a slight yellow colour and a rich oily cream texture. It would work well as a night pack for sealing in moisture, as we tend to lose moisture from our skin as we sleep.

- Plant extracts– Rosemary Leaf extract, Nephelium Lappaceum Leaf Extract- Plant extracts are rich in anti oxidants which help reduce environmental damage from radiation and the sun. Nephelium Lappaceum Leaf Extract also known as Rambutan extract is touted as nature’s Retinol, studies show it has the ability to reduce sun damage and works well in partnership with Retinol.
- Gluconates– Zinc, Copper- Zinc and Copper gluconate are fantastic skincare additions, they have numerous effects such as promoting skin healing and increasing collagen production. They work well together.
Retinol Recovery Overnight Moisturiser has some really wonderful ingredients that work well alongside the actives in the serums. I didn’t get on too well it, unfortunately, just because it contains fragrance and my middle aged skin can’t tolerate it. I did try the cream a couple of times but it made my skin itch, which is a real shame because it feels very rich and moisturising. If Perricone MD did an unscented version I would be all over it. Not to say that the aroma is bad, it has a light rose scent and it’s very pleasant.
Take Home on Perricone MD Triple Retinol Skincare
The Perricone MD Triple Retinol Renewal skincare range is a really gorgeous set of anti aging products. I loved the face serum and the eye serum, they have a lovely feel and the packaging is really attractive. The three products work well together as an anti aging powerhouse. Each product has so many ingredients that really cover all the bases- antioxidants to prevent sun damage, soothing extracts to counteract any irritation from the Retinol and moisturising hydration that we all need. The encapsulated Retinol complex will deliver anti aging effects and there are some great before and after photos on Perricone MD, so you can see the results.
I’m personally going to be using the heck out of the eye serum. It might be a bit pricey but you really need so little of the product- a teeny tiny droplet easily covers both eye areas so a little goes a long way. If you are after a small collection of powerful anti aging all rounders and you like to spend money on luxurious science based skincare, Perricone MD Triple Retinol Renewal range is a good buy.
